Background

According to Hungary’s National Energy and Climate Plan, domestic GHG emissions should be reduced by at least 40% by 2030 over the year 1990. It is Hungary’s strategic objective to strengthen the trend of reducing the energy and GHG intensity of Hungary's generated national income in parallel with maintaining high-quality economic growth.

On the road to achieving this goal, Hungary assigns a priority to the objective of improving innovation and maximising the economic development opportunities underlying energy innovation and climate change. Within the framework of the new energy innovation strategy, Hungary plans to encourage the use of innovative solutions to ensure the smooth and climate-friendly transformation of the energy sector.
